A Message from JHTU Regarding Our Tie One On Banquet

Dear JHTU members and supporters,

We hope you and your loved ones are staying safe and healthy.

We wanted to let you know that as of Friday afternoon, we have made the decision to cancel our upcoming Tie One On Banquet scheduled for Friday, May 8th at the Snow King Resort. In these difficult and uncertain times, we are following the leadership of our community, as well as CDC recommendations released over the weekend, to cancel large social events in order to protect attendees, staff, volunteers, and all those in the community from the COVID-19 outbreak. We do not plan to postpone the event until later this fall, but instead hope to be able to “tie one on” with you in 2021. As you know, the success of each banquet relies on the incredible generosity of local, regional, national, and international businesses and outfitters, and rather than ask them for donations to our banquet in these trying times, we would instead ask you to support them as they have supported us, and as you are able.

We will be issuing refunds for any tickets or sponsorships bought to date. Please contact us at toteturner@gmail.com and leslie.steen@tu.org if you have any questions (and please give us a few days to figure out how to do this).

As we enter an undetermined period of lockdown, we will be focusing our efforts on coldwater conservation and our upcoming Snake River Headwaters projects. We have 5 exciting projects – on Spread Creek, 3 Channel Spring Creek, Tincup Creek, Swift Creek, and the Greys River – that we are working to complete this fall. Typically, our Tie One On Banquet raises half of our annual operating budget for the year, with funds going directly towards projects and staff. If you are in a position to make a direct, tax-deductible contribution to our conservation efforts in lieu of attending the banquet this year, you can do so through our banquet website – we are grateful for your consideration.

Until we next meet – we will be dreaming of cold, clean, fishable water, healthy trout, and healthy people.

Sincerely,

The JHTU Board
