Western Wyoming continues to experience above-average temperatures and below-average precipitation. Most local streams are receding, except for Fish Creek and Flat Creek, which remain near peak flow due to irrigation influences. Jackson Lake and Palisades Reservoir are near full capacity, though streamflows across the region are past peak and receding earlier than usual. Water temperatures are ranging from the 50s to the upper 60s (°F).
In Yellowstone National Park, the Madison, Firehole, and Gibbon Rivers have been closed to fishing from 2 p.m. to sunrise to help protect trout during periods of low flow and elevated water temperatures.
As you head out to fish, please be mindful of water temperatures. Trout thrive in water 65°F and cooler. Fishing during the coolest parts of the day helps reduce stress on these sensitive species.
