Join us on Thursday, September 25, from 6–8 p.m. at JD High Country Outfitters for an evening with The Salmonfly Project.
The event will feature a presentation of The Salmonfly Project’s latest research on local macroinvertebrates, exploring everything from the causes of insect declines to vulnerability assessments that identify which species need the most conservation. Because macroinvertebrates are the foundation of the food web — and a critical food source for trout — their abundance and diversity directly influence the health of our fisheries and the quality of our fishing. This free event is a wonderful opportunity to connect with fellow conservationists, enjoy good food, and dive into the science behind our rivers. We hope to see you there!
Looking to get involved on the ground? The Salmonfly Project is also seeking volunteers on Saturday, September 20, to help launch its third season of aquatic insect and habitat surveys on the Snake River. Volunteers will work alongside staff to resurvey sites, track insect communities, measure sediment levels, and deploy temperature loggers — all key indicators of river health. No prior scientific experience is required, but participants should be comfortable wading in knee-deep water. To sign up, reach out to conservation@salmonflyproject.com
