💧Conditions Update:
🌡 WATER TEMPERATURES ARE HEATING UP. Stream temperatures at all USGS monitoring locations have reached daily peaks above 65 degrees (F). Depending on the location, temperatures are peaking around 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm. To minimize stress on individual fish, consider getting out on the river earlier, carrying a pocket thermometer to check conditions, and moving to colder streams as things heat up.
🌨 Locally heavy precipitation produced rapid increases in streamflow and high sediment transport in several tributaries, including Flat Creek as it flows through the Town of Jackson and the upper Gros Ventre.
🌊 Rain events have slowed the drop in natural flow, which is near 70% of average for this time of year. Boosted from Jackson Lake releases, actual flow on the Snake downstream of the dam remains high and well-above average at all monitoring sites.
💧 Jackson Lake is currently 65% full, compared to an average of 80% for the date. Outflow remains near 5,000 cfs. The reservoir’s rate of decline continues to track 2021’s rate, a year in which the Colter Bay boat ramp was inaccessible by the first week of August. Similar closures are expected this year.
💧 Palisades Reservoir is currently 21% full, compared to an average of 78% for this date. Over the past week, outflow was dropped from 14,000 to 13,200 cfs.
⛅Weather outlooks for the next two weeks indicate a high likelihood of more above average temperatures and near-normal precipitation.
