Weekly conditions update – 6/22/2026:
– A landslide on Wednesday up Granite Creek introduced large amounts of sediment into the Hoback River, which may continue to run red for a while.
– Scattered high-elevation rainstorms kept water year precipitation at 92% of average for the date
– June 18th was the first day with no measurable snow at any SNOTEL station across the watershed. This is 9 days earlier than average.
– Streamflow in most reaches not affected by water management, including the Snake River above Jackson and Pacific Creek, is below average.
– Streamflow on the main Snake River below Jackson and Flat Creek are above average due to above-average outflows from Jackson Lake.
– Jackson Lake has begun to draft and is currently 90% full. Outflow was increased to 5,000 cfs last week to front-load delivery of storage water to Palisades for irrigation use and to maintain hydroelectric power generation.
– Maximum daily water temperatures have continued to rise over the past week. If recent trends continue, Pacific Creek, Snake River at Flagg Ranch, Flat Creek, and the Snake River below Flat Creek monitoring locations may record temperatures above 65 degrees F this week.
