The 7th-grade class at Jackson Hole Middle School has officially completed another year of the Adopt-a-Trout program!
Throughout the school year, students learned about native Snake River fine-spotted cutthroat trout and followed the journey of an individual fish through a Wyoming Game and Fish Department study in Spread Creek. Along the way, they explored fish migration, habitat connectivity, aquatic insects, and the challenges facing native fish populations through lessons led by TU staff, partners, and volunteers.
To celebrate the end of the year, students spent the day at the South Park Wildlife Management Area and the Jackson National Fish Hatchery, rotating through hands-on learning stations. They practiced casting fly rods, learned about aquatic invasive species, toured the hatchery, completed a scavenger hunt along Flat Creek, and more!
