Jackson Hole Trout Unlimited is proud to support the Wyoming Game and Fish Department’s new research project focused on Snake River fine-spotted cutthroat trout in the Little Greys River drainage.
Over the past five years, fisheries surveys have documented a decline in Snake River fine-spotted cutthroat trout larger than 5 inches in the Little Greys River and its tributaries, while populations of smaller fish have remained stable or increased. This study will help biologists better understand how juvenile trout move throughout the watershed and what factors may be contributing to the decline of larger fish.
JHTU is helping make this research possible by funding Passive Integrated Transponder (PIT) tags and Visual Implant Elastomer (VIE) tags, while also providing hands-on assistance with fieldwork!
