Conditions update – 9/5/2026:
🌡️ Air temperatures cooled and were near-average over the past week. With cooler air temperatures and shorter days, water temperatures dropped, with most sites now recording daily peak temperatures below 65F .
🌧️ A wet week boosted water year precipitation to 98% of average for the date. Storms over the past week favored high elevation areas and the eastern portion of the watershed.
🏞️ As streams reach baseflow conditions, natural flow on most gaged tributaries remains below-average for the date.
🌊 Outflow from Jackson remains near 5,000 cfs. The reservoir is currently 21% full compared to 63% on average for the date since 1978. At the current outflow, storage in Jackson Lake is dropping at a rate of around 9,500 acre-feet per day.
💧 Outflow from Jackson Lake is expected to hold near 5,000 cfs for at least another week (and quite possibly later into September) before flows are ramped down to the winter target of 280 cfs. We will share additional information on the ramp-down schedule as plans are finalized
🌊 Outflow from Palisades dropped to 7,000 cfs over the past several days. Palisades is currently 10% full. The Upper Snake reservoir system is currently at 14% of capacity compared to 46% on average.
