Join Us Thursday, Sept 25, at JD High Country Outfitters!

Mark your calendars for Thursday, September 25, from 6-8 p.m. at JD High Country Outfitters, where we’ll be hosting The Salmonfly Project for an evening of science and conversation.

The Salmonfly Project will share their latest research on local macroinvertebrates – vital insects that form the foundation of the food web and are a critical food source for trout. The presentation will explore the causes of insect declines, highlight which species face the greatest risks, and explain why these organisms are essential to both river health and our fisheries. This free event is a chance to learn, connect with fellow conservation-minded community members, and enjoy good appetizers!

Want to get involved? On Saturday, September 20, The Salmonfly Project is kicking off its third season of aquatic insect and habitat surveys on the Snake River, and they are looking for volunteers! Tasks include resurveying sites, monitoring insect communities, measuring sediment levels, and deploying temperature loggers – all essential to understanding river health. No experience is needed, just a willingness to wade into the river. Email conservation@salmonflyproject.com to sign up!
