Orvis JH and JD High Country Outfitter Customer Donation Drives Help JHTU in September!

Two local fly shops are running special donation drives for JHTU this September. Orvis Jackson Hole will be raising funds for the local JHTU chapter throughout the month of September through Orvis’s Great Giveback Days Program, and JD High Country Outfitters will host a JHTU Round-Up Promotion over Labor Day weekend in which customers can choose to round up their purchase to donate to JHTU.

New this September, Orvis Jackson Hole (485 W. Broadway, open 8-4 every day) will be participating in Orvis’s Great Giveback Days program throughout the entire month of September and donating proceeds to JHTU. Customers can visit Orvis Jackson Hole and donate $10 or more (in $10 increments) to JHTU to receive a corresponding $10 savings card good toward any full-price apparel purchase. Nationally, online purchases will support TU’s Embrace A Stream program. “JHTU is making a big difference in the health of our local fisheries, and we hope that community members will stop by the store in September to help support their projects while also stocking up on fall fishing essentials,” said Maggie Heumann, Orvis store manager and JHTU board member.

Also new this September, JD High Country Outfitters (50 E Broadway, open 10-5 M –Th and 10-6 F-Su) will host a special JHTU Round-Up Promotion over Labor Day weekend, from Friday, September 4th through Monday, September 7th. Customers will be asked at check out if they would care to round up their purchase to the next dollar or other amount in support of JHTU. JD High Country Outfitters will match the promotion up to the $500. “We wanted to find a creative way to support JHTU during these uncertain times and engage our customers in conservation work, especially because we knew that JHTU wasn’t able to hold its banquet this spring,” said Howard Cole, JDHCO fishing department staff and JHTU board member.

This year, JHTU’s annual Tie One On fundraising banquet was cancelled due to COVID-19; as such, sales from the limited-edition Abby Paffrath Trucker Hats and customer donations made through the Orvis Great Giveback Days and JD High Country Outfitters JHTU Round-Up Promotion are especially important to sustaining JHTU’s efforts to support on-the-ground conservation projects through the Snake River Headwaters Initiative, including 8 active projects, and promote clean water in collaboration with the JH Clean Water Coalition. Those wishing to support JHTU with a direct donation can also make a gift through Old Bill’s Fun Run to “Trout Unlimited – Jackson Hole Chapter” until September 18th.

“We are so grateful to Abby for creating these beautiful art pieces and hats for JHTU as a fundraiser, and to our local fly shops for being willing to support us through hat sales and customer donation drives,” said Tote Turner, JHTU President. “We hope that the community will in turn support these local businesses and fly shops by buying local, and learn a little about the great conservation projects that we have going on.”
